newsgroup? i take it you mean a news server, yottanews have a free 1gb per month, and they are pretty good

other than that, free ones are pretty awful for retention

claranews and newshosting have been bandied about - but they cost money!

its 'usenet.plus.net' if you use plusnets servers. Its password authenticated rather than IP so you will also need to put your username and password in your newsreader.

usenet.plus.net and news.plus.net are both pointing to the same location (84.92.1.10). And it is IP-authenticated, in the sense that only PlusNet/Force9/Free-Online/other vISP IP ranges are able to connect to it. You do not need to enter a username or password into your usenet client.

Chris,

Some customers have a Usenet Radius component on their account. This allows access from non-PN IP's. As long as you are dialling in from a PN IP though, authentication should not be required.

Kind Regards,

Bob

I tried to access from my home account and my usenet reader (grabbit) wouldn't authenticate until I entered the username and password. I just assumed it wouldn't IP authenticate. Weird Shockedops:
