E-mail notifictaion on tickets

I keep setting "e-mail notification" on tickets to "On", but after waiting a while for a reply I eventually check the ticket to find that there has been a reply and the notification has been turned to "off". Is there a problem with the setting, or can the plus.net rep replying reset e-mail notification to off?
