Dropout but no auto reconnect Netgear DG814

I get dropout from PlusNet at random intervals but the router light shows steady green and only switching off the router will reconnect.
I am running with the latest software V4.10 Feb. 11, 2004 which apparently should allow automatic reconnect.
Are there any settings I should change in the router to allow automatic reconnect to the internet.

Hi Holtlane,

Are you using a 2mb connection and if so do you know the line stats?

The 814 can't show stats.

Do you have the idle timeout on the router set to 0. If not, do so.

I realise that Peter. i should have been more specific.

If he knows the stats from say a woosh is what I should have said. Smiley

One final thing to try - do a full factory reset to default settings and go through the setup again.

To answer all, or nearly all, the points.
I did a full reset when I upgraded to the latest firmware as I was having problems with the update process. Turns out it was Norton firewall blocking it. I never did find out why I just disabled the firewall.
Idle timeout is set to zero
I am on 1MB connection with whoosh test results

i am not too bothered about the occasional dropout - usually less than once per week - it is just annoying that I have to switch off the router to get connection to the internet again.

Ok. No point going where I was heading then. Its not the same issue as I had in mind.
