Domain Hosting

I joined plusnet about two weeks ago and have been very impressed with the services offered.

I have a domain that is hosted elsewhere and I have been having trouble contacting the people who host the domain to get the email forwarding changed, this has been going on for two weeks and I have sent several emails but have yet to recieve anything other than an automated reply.

If I decided to transfer the domain to my plusnet account so that I can control the DNS records etc. how would I get the domain DNS servers changed seeing as I am not having much luck contacting my current hosting providers?

Can you change the DNS servers for the domain if need be?

Thanks

Good Afternoon,

Welcome to Plusnet and thanks for the feedback.

It really depends upon what type of domain it is and where you registered the domain.

Again, it depends upon what the domain is as to what we can help you with.

What is the domain?

Kind Regards

Duncan

Hi thanks for your quick reply.

The domain is jmtc.co.uk

I registered it and it is hosted by larknet ( www.domainbuster.com )

Thanks

Hi again,

I would suggest trying them again, the DNS should be set to:

ns1.force9.net 195.166.128.16
ns2.force9.net 195.166.128.17

Most companies would not require the IPs, I have included them for your reference.

If they fail to transfer the domain then you can get Nominet (the .uk domain registrar) to change the IPSTag to us via fax.
This should really be considered as last resort action.
Visit www.nic.uk for further information on Nominet.

Kind Regards

Duncan

RE: Domain Hosting

Ok then thanks for your replies, I will give it a bit longer as I have emailed them again today.

Sounds like a hassle to do that, but the domain email is down and has been for some time so.

RE: Domain Hosting

Hi Lee,
Transfering .uk domains is relativly easy. You only need the to change the IPS tag to FORCE9 once done we can transfer it to our system (you will need to contact us by phone / Contact Us to request this once the tag is changed.

Thanks

RE: Domain Hosting

Hello again,
Forgot to add that you can also now transfer domains in manually once the IPS tag has changed by going to the MyDomains section rather than calling or using Contact Us.

Thanks

RE: Domain Hosting

Thanks for that,

The problem is more to do with getting my current host providers to do anything i.e. change the IP stag.

Might have to go through Nominet if they don't do anything soon.

RE: Domain Hosting

Lee,
Don't be too disheartened. For different circumstances I had to use Nominet to resolve a hosting issue last year, they are extremely professional & efficient. Ruth was my contact and she excelled in all my dealings (by phone, fax & mail).

RE: Domain Hosting

Hi,
Yes Nominet should be able to help you get the tag changed should you have problems with it.

Thanks
