Difference between DSL/ADSL upgrades?

I was just checking the BT Speed upgrade programme and noticed some entries have DSL and some have ADSL. For example for my exchange:

L/XXX_ADSL_5 This DSLAM is marked as a trial exchange
L/XXX_DSL_101 Upgrades on this DSLAM will commence in April 2005
Multiple visits are required for the upgrades to this DSLAM
L/XXX_DSL_103 Upgrades on this DSLAM will commence in May 2005
L/XXX_ADSL_1 Upgrades on this DSLAM will commence in June 2005
L/XXX_DSL_102 Upgrades on this DSLAM will commence in June 2005
L/XXX_ADSL_2 Upgrades on this DSLAM will commence in July 2005
L/XXX_ADSL_3 Upgrades on this DSLAM will commence in July 2005

As the common service for households is ADSL does this mean, from the above info, that my line get the free upgrade in June 2005 and NOT April/May as I assumed.

Someone please help out so I can make a decision on whether to pay for the 2mbit regrade fee.

Difference between DSL/ADSL upgrades?

ADSL is a type of DSL.

DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. The 'A' part simply means Asymetric, meaning the downstream is faster than the upstream.

So ADSL IS DSL, but DSL isn't ADSL if you're with me.

For the purposes of the BT labelling of the DSLAMs, it could be any of those that you are connected to.

(Sorry Phil, I know you answered this, but there may be others interested to know the answer)

Difference between DSL/ADSL upgrades?

maybe the DSL lines have SDSL enabled so instead of listing the exchanges SDSL/ADSL the just put DSL and most exchanges being just ADSL they just list as that

No. My exchange has ID with DSL & not ADSL but does not have SDSL.
