Daft Question re E-Mail

My main e-mail address is with a 3rd party (Fastmail) and I never use the Plusnet address. The only messages on the PN address are either from PN or are Spam.

My Account Details page shows the Fastmail address only.

E-Mails from PN go to both addresses.

Can I close the PN address without effecting the PN generated E-Mails?

I have set up a free Domain but have not yet figured out how to set up mailboxes on it .

What are the format of the spam e-mails.

Username@username.plus.com

or

postmaster@username.plus.com

If the former then change the name of your default mailbox. Follow e-mail settings to the left and then Manage my mail and then click rename beside the default mailbox.

Postmaster will still be set as an alias to this.

Plusnet always e-mail the postmaster address as per the terms and conditions. Thats why there should be a postmaster mailbox or an alias. That being said there are workarounds on the forum to remove the postmaster alias.

Add mailboxes from control desribed above. They will serve both your new domain and plusnet addresses.

i.e. mailbox = mail

mail@username.plus.com and mail@mydomain.co.uk go to the same mailbox.

Hope that helps

Francis.

Daft Question re E-Mail

Hi,

So long as we have a valid email address on your account then there's no need to use the PlusNet address if you don't want to.

Mailboxes for the domains are the same as any mailboxes you have for your PlusNet address, you may want to take a look at this post from Chris:

http://community.plus.net/comms/2007/07/17/using-the-manage-my-mail-tool/

You can turn off the PlusNet address if you wish, to do so just raise a ticket.

Daft Question re E-Mail

Thanks for that, I'll change the PN name now and consider whether to close it.
