DNS trouble?

Is there any problem with DNS today? My wife's just e-mailed me from our Plus.Net ADSL connection (she can't post here herself as you'll see) to say:

"I've got a weird (DNS?) problem atm - email is fine, and some websites are
fine (livejournal.com, City.ac.uk, citeulike.org, for example) but others (ebay, Scientific American, plus.net) aren't working - Opera browser shows a 'could not locate remote server' message, and Internet Explorer can't get to them either, from two different PCs here."

Any ideas anyone? We got a new router yesterday but that was working fine last night. I put three fixed DNS servers into its settings as I'd done that on the previous router following some issues. What three servers would people recommend for her to try if things haven't improved?

Thanks in advance for any help!

DNS trouble?

Try rebooting the router? Everything seems to be happening fine here...

Ah, thank you very much - apparently the router reboot has sorted it.

So should we be worried that our brand new router is going wrong already? Sad

DNS trouble?

Nah not really, it could have just picked up a BT DNS server whilst connecting to Plusnet, or the DHCP server didnt supply the DNS servers accordingly.

It might be worth hard setting Plusnet's DNS Servers into your router if you like. To avoid it happening again.
