erm.. did you read what i asked peter ?

I already have www.mydomain.co.uk pointing to ccgi.username.plus.com

ahh this exposes my username if someone does a dns lookup...

anyway to point to ccgi wthout using cggi.username.plus.com in the dns settings..

Yes I did, did you read the tutorial I gave?

Under the section entitled Pointing your domain to the CGI server

i.e. you use criticalmass.plus.net. instead of ccgi.username.plus.com. (with the trailing dots)

or have I still misunderstood what you are asking?

ok let me explain

when you point your own doman eg mydomain.co.uk to your cggi webspace

your dns would look like this..

www.mydomain.co.uk. CNAME ccgi.astyler.plus.com.
yeah you get me...

now i want to not have the right visible like that in DNS as its provides a method of someone fnding your plusnet username from your domain name...

the problem i dont think can be worked around as ccggi.astyler.plus.com actually resolves to ccgiserver/astylerwebspace etc..

kinda like header host forwarding in iis.

now if plusnet could bina real ip to my space then i would be ok...
i could put that in the dns instead of the name.

DNS SETTINGS help...

Have you actually tried what I and the tutorial suggested and in your DNS entry for your domain, replace ccgi.username.plus.com with criticalmass.plus.net?

Why don't you try putting it in exactly as Peter says by configuring your domain from this page? That doesn't reveal your user name.

i would do but

criticalmass.plus.net doesnt appear to be online and i think that guide is well out of date..

port scanned it and its not live..

so try again guys...

Anyone...?

i would raise a ticket about this....but i have already raised a ticket out one of the MX server not accepting email for my domain thats hosted with +NET

That was over 24 hour ago and no reply.

if anyone here can figure a way let me know..

nah wont work

it uses the ccgi.username.plus.com to direct you to yor own webspace...

without this how does it know where to point for thr virtual website..

i dont think its possible..

Re: nah wont work

I've just looked back through the whole topic. In your original post you asked

Quote
is it possibly to point your own domainname to your cggi space without it pointing to... ccgi.username.plus.com ?

Doesn't your last post answer the question?
