Connection speed to China become worse and worse

I got a lot of business in China, I have to visit Chins's websites to collect some important information, but the surf speed become worse and worse since last month, I don't need to download something from those Chinese websites, but the speed for just browsing the web pages are very very slow, it took about over several minutes to acces a normal text-base web page. This happens since last month only, in the past time the speed is acceptable although it is still a little bit slow. I don't understand what has been changed by PLUS?!!!
BTW, the P2P applications are also much slower than before. Under 10K/s this is not a ADSL or broadband, I prefer to go back to use the 56K Dial-up or ISDN service if it is still to be so!

very disappointed

Connection speed to China become worse and worse

Hi,

This isn't something that we've changed. The issues with reaching sites in china could be down to an issue with one of the companies that we use for transit, and the best way to find out exactly where the problem is occuring is to run a traceroute to one of the sites that you are having problems with.

As for p2p speeds, I'd suggest you take a look at the Updated Vision for 2006, which is posted in the Announcements forum.

when it comes to china, its out of plusnets hands really. I think its mainly because the people plusnet peer with have poor connections down there. The sheer distance doesnt help either.

Alot of other isps are the same although some are ok. Not quite sure why. It seems to depend on how the traffic gets routed.

As for p2p/ usenet, It depends on what account your on. if your on BB+ then its not designed for p2p. Premier however, on the next billing has a portion of clean p2p/usenet traffice up to something like 20gig on 2mbit premier.

Business accounts only have a light shaping. Our office business acount is absolutly fine with p2p/usenet although its rarely used.

Best raising a ticket and see what they say

Just to let the forum know, you are not the only one to have experience this problem to China. Last month I used to be able to visit www.elong.net, the holiday booking site in China, however nowadays I cannot as I am getting timeouts.

As a workaround I am using my company's VPN which has an outbound BT Broadband SDSL line and that works just fine.

not very promising to say the least. but saying that I have done a traceroute also and have noticed that it bombs out on hop 15 the err "China-Network-Communication-Group-Corporation blah blah"

Connection speed to China become worse and worse

I am connected to the internet this now using JANET and even with its huge backbone it still takes a 10+ seconds to load up that elong site, where as UK & US sites usually load within a few seconds!

Connection speed to China become worse and worse

Transit problems to asian /china is nothing new and its been around for many years.

Doing a visualroute trace seems to show packet loss starts to occur between asianet in HongKong and CNC in china.
210.52.130.22 being the most affected with up to 25% packet loss showing

Below is a "normal" trace to one of the "better/faster" sites with a .cn domain.

Connection speed to China become worse and worse

Don't just make sense with the results from PING or TraceRoute, last 2 month PLUSNET works very well to access any of Chinese websites, just a little bit delay but it is still acceptable, normally under 10-20 seconds to load the China-based web pages. But now it become slower and unstable. I have another ADSL line in my office which is provided by Nildram, that line works quite good to access China' network. Also some of my friends using Zenbroadband and BT broadband, they all have the quite little delay time to access the China's websites. I don't why PLUSNET change to be so slow.
BTW sometimes it is also very slow to access some website in California/US,
I suggest PLUSNET to discuss this with your backbone network provider, see what happen. You know, I use Nildram in my office, and my friend use Zen, they are all working much better than your network in this issue. I wish ur engineers could review this case and get that better.

i'm getting massive packaet loss as soon as it hits china. i can access any sites just before china no issues. soon as its over into chinese terority then its huge amounts of packet loss.

Theres gotta be a way to route traffic over another route.

Maybe it's to do with the Chinese servers protocols:-

Gold, Jade, Ivory, Porcelain, Clay, PlusNet Cool
