What are you doing to usenet traffic on the premier accounts, my connection is as good as useless, i only get 15K from Easynews - if you want me to leave the service just BLOODY tell me and i will go, I am sick to death of this utterly crap service and all this 'its not us guv' attidude that seems to have been adopted.

And before you ask, NO I am not going to run another bloody speed test - you know why our connections are so shite just come clean and tell us.

Totally pissed off with this service

So with you on that one mate, getting exactly the same, 15k to easynews.

It is a joke and is only a bit faster than my dial up was years ago.

Whats the point in having 2mb if your only getting a 1/10th of the bandwidth ?

God only knows what +net are gonna do when 4 & 8mb MaxDSL is rolled out ?

I reckon its time for em to come clean to, just that no one seems to be listening to the same endless comments that people are making about this. Its a shame.

Just joined 2 weeks ago, feel same way. Customer service is appaling, 4 days for a returned ticket, which the answer to alot of questions is to run a speed test. NOT unlimited downloads and access on a premier account, "Premium quality service for all types of usage". If I didnt have to pay the activation charge and 11 months of payment, I would have migrated away by now.

If you only joined 2 weeks ago you can leve using the plusnet 45 day gaurantee but you will still need to repay the connection charge and any other defered costs i.e any free hardware but should not be held to the 12 months contract

I'm having no problems with Plus.net's own Usenet servers. I'm on 2mB Premier.

I'm seeing similar speeds from Easynews (2MB Premier) during PN's peak hours. Right now (10am Friday) I'm getting 220kbytes/sec on a single thread (which is great), but most evenings that drops to ~30kbytes/sec at best.

This is for http traffic too, not nntp. I accept speeds may suffer a bit during busy periods, but this seems rather severe, and I don't see a decrease of this magnitude with other download sites at similar times (fileshack, etc).

Usenet traffic is in the bronze queue, so it has a lower priority than most other traffic, however I wouldn't expect this to cause that much of a slowdown.

Have you tried tracing to easynews to see if there are any holdups along the way?

How did I know you were going to say that? I did a traceroute from EN and its all fine apart from packet loss when it gets to your network, its the same as I posted a few days back in another post.

Please sort this shit out, I paid for a service to provide me with 2mb not this lame excuse of a service you are providing me with!

Stop sending me round in fucking circles I'm getting dizzy!

That's not what I get when I run a traceroute:

The slowdown is happening within Level3, and not our network. As such there is not really anything we can do.

Log in to Easynews and do the traceroute from there, then look at the packet loss!
