Cant here caller on Plustalk

Using a linksys PAP2T.

If I connected to my router and change it so that all requests should be sent to the IP address of the linksys PAP2T it works fine.

But when I only forward UDP ports 3478 5060 8000 8001 the phone rings, the caller can here me but I cant hear the caller.

Am I missing a port or something?

Is this with both incoming and outgoing calls or just incoming?

You could try using ethereal when you use the DMZ mode, which you say works without problems, to see what ports are in use.

Yes, OK. I said to run ethereal while using the IP phone in a DMZ, ethereal will show you all the ports being used. Then set DMZ back to your server, and check the firewall rules include all the ports used by your IP phone.

I'm not sure what you mean, can I use ethereal to capture the syslog from my router?

My phone is connected directly to my router so any software monitoring the network connection of my PC wouldnt really be any use.

I can set my router to broadcast the syslog file, so if ethereal can read it I'd love to know how, I've looked all over the interface but can't seem to find how to do it.

Nothing to do with syslogs

In fact, this is exactly what ethereal does! You can use ethereal running on your PC to monitor the data going to and from the phone. Time for you to read the FAQ at http://www.ethereal.com/ Wink

I've gave it a go but cant see anything refering to any ports.

I started ethereal and started a capture on the network interface of my PC, rang my plusnet number and picked up. When I cancelled the internet I couldnt see any traffic for the IP address of the phone.

Am I doing something wrong. I've tried reading the FAQ but it's a little over my head for what I want to do.

You need to enable 'promiscuous mode' and 'decode in realtime', what is the make/model of router you have? Sometimes there will be advice for using ethereal based on the router make/model.
