Can someone help me setup a Netgear DG83 router as a gateway

I have fixed ip addresses and my own firewall.

I would like to set-up the netgear DG834 as a gateway and have my firewall deal with that side of things.

I can't seem to get any documentation on how to do this has anyone tried this and succeeded?

Thanks

Lance

Try the hidden page below (using whatever IP you have set the router to):

http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?next_file=mode.htm

and select modem only mode. Also be careful as I don't know how to set it back if it does not work as I think NAT mode is also disabled by this setting. This is also an unsupported feature apparently.

I have not tried this myself and I'm not sure if it passes all traffic in this mode - I know the router does not pass IGMP traffic. I also don't know if it will work with an IP block which is what I guess you now have.

I have the same router but when I got my IP block, I changed to a Draytek Vigor which does support multiple IPs and NAT.

A complete factory reset using the little hole in the back?
