Can Anyone explain this...

My download speed is really, really slow...I'm downloading stuff at 30k/sec.

I've done that broadband check and I get the following results but I'm not sure what they mean...but they seem way above 30k/sec. What is goin on?

IP profile for your line is - 250 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 416 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 230 kbps

Is the download speed in kilobit (kbps) or kilobytes (KB/s)? 8kbps is equal to 1KB/s so 30KB/s is about 240kbps which is about the same as the speedtest.

Has the speed always been like this? The sync speed is on the low side but depending on line length it's difficult to say if this is normal or not.

Slow sync speeds can be caused by a number of things, most common reason would be incorrect or faulty wiring and filters, it's worth having a read through this to see if anything helps:

If the sync speed increases then it will take about 3-5 days for the throughput speed to increase.
