CSS, all server with 1337 port return bad ping

Hi guys,

Ever since ive had PN in ive nevr been getting good ping on all servers with a port number of 1337, which up till now ive been cool with, but now all the poeple i play with seem to join these servers a lot now.

Anyone else get the same problem, or is it just me? The lads i play with are fine in them, its just me. Id try to open the ports on my router, but im clueless how.

Cheers.

Leet port, heh.

Maybe your traffic is being mistaken for P2P and being shaped.

According to IANA 1337 is "menandmice" dns.

Lots of backdoor trojans and other nasties also use 1337 iirc.

Your question makes no sense?

You cannot ping a port? a ping is a service on a port itself?

Your trying to say any GameServer listening on port 1337 is slow right? Well Unless PlusNET are traffic shaping that port to be leet? ...Then im thinking its nothing to do with PlusNET.

Ports are just virtual access points on a network...

What he means is the host is running a counter strike game server using UDP on port 1337. His PC connects to the game on port 1337 and it measures the round-trip delay or latency, much like ping does with ICMP echo packets. Gamers often refer to this as their 'ping' becuase it's easier to say Cheesy

Personally I wouldn't host a server using this port. I see it also gets used by some P2P systems, so it's quite possible it's shaped.
