Broadband and landline call packages?

So, we have a new product: "Broadband and landline call packages"

James? Please could we have an announcement in the forums. Ta.

The ad on the Member Centre page all looks a bit vague so far,
but it probably arrived here via Planet Marketing Wink.

Will the voice package include landline to landline calls or just PlusTalk to landline? I have a shed load of other questions but as most of them are obvious I'll let others have the fun of posting them.

Magically, some more info has appeared behind the promo.

There is an FAQ here: http://portal.plus.net/features/promotions/landline_faq.shtml

20. What are the leaving fees?
If you choose to leave the service, there is an admin fee of £20.

I'd have probably given it a go if it wasn't for that. So, if I try it but am not happy it costs me £20? Doesn't sound worth the risk to me.

Bear in mind that Carphone are charging £70 as a leavers fee (even after fulfilling the 18 month contract, whereas ours is monthly).

It's going to be a long day Smiley

Broadband Basic specs don't sound very appealing, only 50mb bundled in with the 9.99 deal!

I take your point James. I'm not with the Carphone warehouse (and am not tempted to move over to them), so the comparison should be with BT. BT don't charge me £20 to move if I think their service isn't up to scratch.

How long before someone asks if it's going to be unlimited? Wink

Fair point. BT do not charge for leaving, but their monthly charges are considerably higher, whilst our call charges will be quite a bit cheaper.

Id just like to congratulate plusnet on being able to counter car phone warehouse. Its a brave stance for such a small providor, and if you allow people to upgrade there BB package if they out use there current, a much tastier deal then CPW.

And that can be used up by background traffic over a month

More aimed at (obviously) very low level users with USB modems. You can always add the calls component at £11 or £15 to any of our other services.

Not too sure that it's competitive is it? Talk Talk with 'Unlimited calls to UK landlines' and PlusNet with 240 free minutes for £20.99?

I'm no expert on either package but the £29.99 PN one compares better to TalkTalk but a 3GB peak broadband useage seems mean together with a higher cost?

I suppose it depends upon what market each is aiming to grab.

I hate to act like Banquo's ghost (from my workplace) but £2.24 a GB (1000 MB) for extra usage on "Broadband Basic"?

The details are in the Press Release here.

And from the comparison chart for the £20.99 offering: Inclusive calls: 240 minutes (4 hours) landline calls.

I don't see the standard PAYG in that Press Release...

I'm underwhelmed.
