Broadband Premier Service Performance (Beta)- Usenet headers

http://www.plus.net/support/network_performance/broadband/premier.shtml

USENET: Speed (Kbytes/s) is shown for downloading a selection of 1000 news article headers from external USENET provider Giganews.
Avg: 3.96Kbytes/sec

When I joined Plusnet in 2002 i got a steady 60Kbytes/sec to giganews on my 512k adsl.

5 years on and its fifteen times slower.. nice progress lads.

Broadband Premier Service Performance (Beta)- Usenet headers

Hi,

There's definately something odd with the Giganews graphs, the graphs are still in beta form so we haven't ironed out all the bugs yet (like the white spacing) so I'll have a word tomorrow about that.

It's not just the graphs Dave. 3.9Kbytes/sec is just about what I'm getting (although not on premier).

I think what more concerns me over the graphs is that they aren't that much higher off peak and the PAYG one is about the same.

What you are seeing is something different, and regarding specific question in the ticket I can't remember the exact answer and would need to check up on it (or let the network guys answer it).

You must have a magic touch Dave, because just by you looking at the ticket I've suddenly got a 100 fold speed increase (now between 100 & 200KB/s)& it's not even midnight yet.

I expect it'll drop back then when all the P2P scheduled downloads kick in!
