BT Take over PLUS NET

It is no suprise that as customers of PN we don't even get an e-mail to break the following news advertised on ADSL Guide on the 16th

Quote
Plusnet has published details of an offer made by the BT Group for the Sheffield based provider. The offer by BT is for the whole of the issued and to be issued share capital of Plusnet, with each share worth 210 pence, valuing the company at £66.7 million. The press release detailing the offer can be found here.
“I am pleased to announce BT’s offer this morning. Whilst the PlusNet Directors continue to believe that PlusNet is a high quality business, our sector is consolidating and there are considerable benefits to PlusNet in becoming part of BT. BT recognises the importance of retaining PlusNet’s identity and culture and I believe this will give rise to exciting opportunities for PlusNet, our customers and our employees.”

Commenting on the Offer, Lee Strafford, Chief Executive Officer of PlusNet
“This offer makes great sense for BT. We already provide the UK’s most popular and best-performing ADSL broadband service and this acquisition will ensure that even more people can enjoy our market-leading services. PlusNet’s customers and employees will benefit from the combination of PlusNet’s excellent platform and access to BT’s 3 resources and technology development.”

BT Retail chief executive, Ian Livingston

At this time it appears there are to be no immediate plans for changes affecting Plusnet and Metronet customers, with Plusnet continuing to operate from Sheffield. BT appears to want to retain Plusnet's individual identity and culture, while continuing to use and develop the Plusnet Workplace platform.

Is this moderator a shareholder?

I see the CEO (US link:Censored terminology) and others will do quite well (£3M+) out of it so expect approval.

Testicles in disguise as the well known, colloquial version beginning with a 'b'(hardly seems too crude, especially when self-censored).

Maintaining standards apposite to the new masters I suppose. I know - I'm sure there are copious rules about such posts, but spending more time on censoring others than responding to(rhetorical) questions really makes you stand out from the crowd.

It does make you think what is behind the reason why certain individuals are prepared to spend their time picking on the frivolities of a post...:|

Not too sure what that has to do with anything. That's from December 2004.

Just to be clear - We will absolutely want to communicate with all our customers about the direction and status of PlusNet should the acquisition go ahead. That hasn't happened yet though and as such there isn't anything to tell!

That was a misquote. It was the BT CEO that said that.

Here was me thinking that someone else in +net was telling lies Wink

.....I'm ashamed of myself for that...

It just seemed the kind of statement that smacked of a future 'strengthening' of the 'relationship', for which we might have read - takeover.

By the way, I don't think it necesssry for PlusNet CSC to comment on threads like this and, much as a touchy -feely communication from the company might have been nice, it's not required. If we need extra information then City regulations take care of statements of fact and process.

Perhaps CSC would be better off attending to cusomer's service requests and we should be more realistic about big business .

You complained that we hadn't said anything to all of our customers, I gave you an answer - Not sure I see the problem?

BT Take over PLUS NET

Hey Guys,

I'm locking this thread to allow conversation on the BT Offer for PlusNet to concentrate on one thread as it's becoming rather confusing having multiple threads on the same subject with new ones still cropping up without existing threads being read first.

As such could we please direct any conversation on the BT Offer to the original thread started by Liam here.

Many Thanks,

Daniel
