Ok i've been having a few problems & the guys at plusnet asked me to checkout the BT Speedtester & report the results. The only problem is that I cant access the URL. I think I must do something to my network settings in order to do this. Plusnet did say "Remember that you will be assigned a BT IP address on this login. This will not be a problem for most but may require additional network changes on your side"

Can someone advise me in what I need to do to get this working. The URL: http://speedtester.bt.com/ ....... when I click on this I cannot access the site. Do i need to change my network and/or Router settings ?

Many Thanks

From my understanding, this no longer works and BT are yet to introduce an alternative.

I will move this to customer feedback, where a CS agent should pickup on the information given to you.

Hi there,

This is back up and running (although we are still trialing it so are not getting everyone to test it). There are a few things that you need to do, make sure you are conected to the correct logon and that you are not using our DNS:

USER: speedtest@speedtest_domain
PASS: testing

URL:
http://speedtester.bt.com/
http://217.32.105.42/ (if you are unable to view the first URL)

Try the second URL, as this will work even if you are using our DNS servers.

Very nice. I wondered why CS where giving out such details so long after it was withdrawn Tongue

Yeah,

It still has some intermittent issues however. We gave our first lot of feedback to BT this week so once they have everything ironed out we can release it to more customers.

Another problem.......

In order to try this I need to access the webadmin of the SOLWISE SAR110 router and change the user & pass as described above unfortunatley I cannot get access to the page.....I dont remember changing the default user and pass from DSL, DSL - I have also tried ROOT, ROOT & ADMIN, ADMIN. My next step was to reset the router to factory settings and then hopefully get in that way. Only problem is that I cannot see a reset button. The manual says it on the back of the device and should be presses in with a pencil or similar......its not there......Am I been really dumb.....please help !

Just a thought...... Can I reset the router using com1 and a serial connection with something like hyperterminal or telnet ?

Comms 1 and Hyperterminal is the combination I use to get into my router via the "Consol" Thats for a Dlink 504 so it may not work with yours if different.

Much easier to access it via explorer though?

I don't have that router but the reset button is most probably not a button in the true sense, what you may see is a little hole through which you push the pen to access the button hidden inside.
Now, if there are many little holes on the back, beware !!!
Only use a non metallic item, definately NOT a paper clip or anything else metal.

No - unfortunatley there is no reset button that I can see.......If someone else with a Solwise SAR110 could confirm this I would be grateful. I now have a serial cable and have found some commands that may help Smiley

see here ------> http://www.solwiseforum.co.uk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5647

before I try this what are the pitfalls (if any)

Thanks

Looks as if it would work. Worst case secenario is a full reset, which is what you want.
