BB+ large downloads

Not sure what is implied by BB+ being 'unsuitable for large downloads' as stated in the product usage specification in the advertisement for this product . Would this include Linux distos (every month or two at 4GB a time) via ftp ? (2MB/sec to download only html web pages seems a little non-sensical.).

Im sure a comms rep will be able to confirm this, but I think that more refers to large downloads over P2P or Usenet protocols. If you look in this rather detailed thread http://portal.plus.net/central/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34597 it looks like FTP is in silver for all account types (BB+ is mentioned seperately elsewhere), so in all likelihood you will be able to download these at full speed Smiley

The sort of usage you have described should be fine on a Plus account. The sort of thing we mean is people downloading a lot for extended periods of time.

Thats a precise amount and time-span, will we later hear there's always been a specific amount and a time-frame its just that +net never told us what it was?! Wink

No because they "manage your connection" which means if heavy ftp use becomes a problem with a few users they'll just throttle the life out of all BB+ users ftp rather than dealing with the individuals.

Incidentally they have left the door open to do the same to any other service that you need broadband for. Check out previous posts on the subject by Ben et al, nowhere do they say that only P2P will ever be subject to throttling on BB+ . When the pipes get tighter they could easily squeeze ftp, broadband radio/video, etc.
