Announcing BarCamp Sheffield

Do you know what a BarCamp is?

BarCamp is an international network of unconferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies and social protocols.

Well, we're hosting one. Weekend of 26th / 27th May 2007, right here at Internet House!

The topics will cover:-

[1] Social Networks
[2] Web 2.0 applications
[3] The future of the web in the UK and beyond
[4] New business models for the next generation net

There will be a prize (a Slingbox) for the best presentation.

There will also be an award to the developer(s) of the best new UK based web application / mashup of £1000.

This is a FREE event. Participants are encouraged to present / discuss their ideas openly and freely.

Food (Breakfast & Lunch), Drinks (Tea, Coffee, Coke) & BEER! (after 5pm) will be provided free of charge.

Projectors and PC's for presentations are supplied.

The schedule & directions to the event are on the event homepage:-

Announcing BarCamp Sheffield

Hi all,

Just thought I'd bump this thread now that BarCamp is over.

We had 62 people attending on Day 1 and 43 people attending on Day 2.

Pictures can be found on Flickr under barcampsheffield - there are currently over 330 photo's of the event / presentations!

There's a number of blogs popping up containing references to the event and more info / feedback can be seen from the relevant links over at

Kind Rgds,
