Additional DNS records and mail

I have just added some additional DNS records to point my domain at a different web-server.

Will this also affect the email coming into my domain or will that still come in via plusnet's servers?

Cheers

Heavily dependant.

DNS was designed around the fact, that you can use different machines to handle web and e-mail traffic.

To work out which machine will handle your e-mail, you need to check the MX records for your domain.

Using the shell on the CGI server, use "host -t MX <domain>"

Depending on the host/IP this is pointing, you should then know who is handling your e-mail

Hi,

Unless you specifically add additional MX records for your domain then e-mail to it will continue to be delivered to our servers.

Kind Regards,
