Accessing mailbox via Outlook on non PN connection

Hi,

Stoopid Q:

If I set up a new mailbox in my PN account, can I set MS Outlook to access it from a PC using another ISP's connection, so that I can pick up that specific mail remotely? The necessity has unfortunately arisen, so I have to look into it.

Does PN's mail server detect that the mailbox is being accessed from 'elsewhere'?

Thanks, folks!! Wink

You can receive email via Outlook from any Plusnet mail account, but you cannot send using Plusnet accounts unless you are connected via them

Yes, I do this.

Suggest that you use IMAP rather than the more popular POP3. IMAP will leave your email on the server and so allow access on multiple machines. Select server type when setting up the account on the mail client.

For the servers use imap.plus.net for incomming mail

You will also need to use the other ISP's outgoing mail servers at the other location since you can only use PN's from a PN connection. (This is a protection to stop the world abusing the relays).
