ADSL uptime results

I run several websites from an old server connected to my PlusNet ADSL connection, so I need the connection to be active as much as possible.

I use the supplied Solwise router (a SAR110), with a script running on the server to check connectivity every ten minutes and reboot the router in the event of a problem.

I can't tell the difference between router crashes and link downtime [1], but the results so far for 2004 are pretty good:

Wed Jan 7 12:20:12 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.
Thu Jan 8 04:20:21 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.
Thu Jan 8 04:30:16 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.
Thu Jan 8 08:00:22 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.
Fri Jan 16 04:20:23 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.
Mon Mar 1 12:10:23 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.
Thu Mar 4 04:10:23 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.
Thu Mar 4 04:20:22 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.
Sun Mar 21 12:10:23 GMT 2004 *** Link down. Router rebooted.

No downtime at all in February, link down on 8/1 and 4/3, and five other unknown disconnections. Not too shabby.

[1] or plus.net and google.com both failed to answer two consecutive pings!

Hi Mark,

Are you saying that the service is great with very few disconnections or are you having a problem? (I know which one I want it to be Smiley )
