Try using the BT speed tester to see whether a problem at your exchange is causing this - details of how to do this can be found at http://usertools.plus.net/tutorials/id/27.

If you are using an ADSL router, you should also check whether it is reporting any errors.

i may have found a small fault on network.

Primary DNS 212.158.6.9 is down or unreachable (Time's out)

The default gateway 195.166.128.123 is up and running!

Yesterday i did the fault checker and it came up with my DNS was wrong, i changed them with no aval! and the error is still there?

Your DNS server is not working right!

It's there and is pingable.

I suspect you either aren't connection fully or there is something stopping the connection like a firewall or fault on the line.

That is because it is not the IP address of one of PlusNet's DNS servers! The correct IP addresses are:

212.159.6.9
212.159.6.10
212.159.13.49
212.159.13.50

ADSL SlowDown

that would explain it then,
it would have been a typo i had
212.158.6.9
212.159.6.10
212.159.13.49
212.159.13.50

Would'nt the 3 other dns cover for the typo??

Now FTP still slow / timing out
Web & Mail @ 953.10kbps

BT Wholesale speed test on
plusnet domain: 803Kbps
BT Domain: N/A Timed out

They should really but that's down to your OS. If you correct it you should find that the connection works a lot better.

Sorry, i did write a typo,
all is correct now!

i'm still having problems with speed and connecting.
Web traffic and FTP Traffic is crawling again and ftp has a habbit of timing out

its not my workstation - try'd 3 other workstations and 1 other server = all with the same problem

I to, just today have noticed my line is peaking at 1.1~1.3Mbit.

Bt Test login shows 2mbit.
Run my own DNS.

Pings are ok, tracerts are fine.

Adslguide speed tests are around 500K
pn speed test around 600~1.1mbit

web speeds are getting better but there is still alot of FTP time outs!

Plusnet have been made what it is today, only by word of mouth by its customers liking the service. Things are changing and your annoying loads of customers, when thay all migrate, plusnet will go down! do something now to keep your customers and continue growth!
Plusnet have all the good things, just dont restrict users internet traffic e.g the crawling newsgroup's and FTP! there is something else you can do.

also plusnetters is a great idea! a voice for the users! hope plusnet really listens!
