ADSL Connection works When I Make A Phone Call?

My ADSL connection has been very intermittent but one thing guaranteed to get me a connection to the server is to make a land-line phone-call> On a regular basis, as soon as I make a call, the broadband connection comes through- why is this?

Curious. hmmm

when you are connected, and you make a call, do you get any interference/hissing on the line?

Usually, it works in reverse though. lol

ADSL Connection works When I Make A Phone Call?

Seem to remember this coming up on adsl guide.
I think the problem was thought to be dry joint in the connection to the exchange and the fact of making a telephone call was passing current through the joint so breaking down the initial resistance hence permitting the adsl signal to get through.

Also try disconnecting the all your phones, and see if that help.
I have known problems to be caused by a faulty telephone.

ADSL Connection works When I Make A Phone Call?

Hi,

This can happen if something isn't filtered properly or there's a fault in the wiring somewhere. Take a look at

and

to see if anything there helps.

I have exactly the same problem.

I have had a ticket running with CS for a little while now on this topic.

Not really any further forward with it.

There are several threads on ADSLGuide regarding this.

Search for "High Resistance Fault"

It appears to be fairly common
