A Couple of Quickies

1. A "bugette" on the new Portal. If you enter via the https route (https://portal.plus.net/), when you log in, you are sent to the "open" login page (http://portal.plus.net/index_portal.html). You can then go to the secure version (at https://portal.plus.net/index_portal.html) but it's always a manual job. I'm sure this didn't used to happen before :confused. I feel that if any page should be secure, it ought to be the login page and that if you start in https mode, you should stay in that mode.

2. Did I dream it or did someone once say that there is DNS name for your home (ADSL) IP address? If so, what is it? Smiley

TIA,

Regards,
BoneMan

Hi there BoneMan,
The portal has always been by default a http link, however if you log into "My Account Details" or anywhere that sensitive information is kept, you'll notice the link (if you look in your status bar) is https.

By default, you get forward DNS in the format username.plus.com. Reverse DNS should also work in this way.

Mike

RE: A Couple of Quickies

Mike,
Thanks for your reply and apologies for the delay in me saying so.

Ah, but that's my point. The portal is also available as an https link. if you entered as https under the "old" portal, it stayed that way. Now when you login (top right link) from an https link it drops you back to an http page for the actual login and leaves you that way. The odd thing is that there _is_ an https version of the login page and if you use it it stays in https mode.

Sorry but I still think there is an error in the "login" link on portal.plus.net/index_nlp.html page .

Hi,

Yes, I see your point. I will add this to our list of portal bugs and can be resolved at the next available opportunity.
