What happened for the last 30 minutes?

No service whatsoever.

All the phone lines for customer service, faults, service status were engaged.

No update on the service status.

I'm glad I've got my mac and will be leaving soon.

And all this just a day after the vision for 2007 email was sent out.

Hi there,

It was an unfortunate and unavoidable issue caused by the earlier BT outage. This leads to our hitting session limits on the other 3 Gateways, causing authentication issues, hence the problem that you were seeing.

The issue is still being worked on as we speak.

the network seems to be going up and down like a yo-yo at the moment -do we know when it will calm down again ?

PTN-AG1 has been rebooted a couple of times as part of the problem diagnosis.

Once further information is available, the status message will be updated.

Hi,

The call stats are available on the portal here:

Looks like the number of calls has reduced back to normal levels now.

The network is still quite out of balance from the problems earlier and three of the gateways have been pretty much full so with the round robin authentication from BT's side it may have taken a few connection attempts to get back online if you keep hitting the these gateways.

Hahahaha. The call stats - useful, or rather useless, as ever.

I notice the graph never went over 36 calls.

Does this mean that the PlusNet phone system can never handle more than 36 calls?

Throughout the period everything was just engaged.

PlusNet were entirely out of touch with their users via telephone for at least 1 hour - even the pre-recorded status line was unusable.

After 2006, I would have expected some sort of resiliency in the event of an outage -- but oh no.

I'm glad I don't run a business via PN.

I'll certainly make sure that this is flagged up, at the very least the service status line should have been working at that's very concerning.
