Those two sites are in the US and I would suggest they are unfair for UK consumers. Try 'adslguide.org.uk'.

RE: 17.7 kilobits per second !!!!!!!!!

To be fair he did write kilo bits in the title and mention kilobits more. .
Think i know why its so slow. The staff at Plusnet are saving all our ip packets onto floppy and then transporting them by courrier to the next stop. and then bringing them back again the same way.
Thats why there is no one to answer your questions.

Seriously , i think they will fix it soon, cos they dont want a bad reputation . Bad reputations cost them money so its really in their own interest to get it sorted. Mean while its good fun dissing them on here. A bit of pressure added here and there prob make em work quicker.

im lucky in a way in that my net hasnt really totaly gone off, so i suppose it all could be worse

Dear customer,

Thanks for reporting this to us. As we have raised in earlier Service Status postings we are not aware of any current generic connectivity problems on
the ADSL platform.

We are currently monitoring this however and the feedback and traceroutes that you have provided are being looked into.

If any other customers can connect but have slow connections most of the time we would welcome that feedback with relevant traceroutes so that we can
provide this info to our network staff and resolve these problems.
