I have a connect account, and dial in on an 0808 number. The response time on both the old and the new number just introduced is much slower than it is when using the 0845 numbers. I get large numbers of timeouts - The Page cannot be displayed - messages using the 0808 numbers. This happens far less frequently on the 0845 numbers. I have had a ticket outstanding for more than 4 days now, and no answers have been forthcoming, except requests to do traceroutes.
Does anyone know whether there is any intrinsic reason why the 0808 numbers should be so much worse than the 0845 numbers? Is it BT deliberately throttling these numbers, to damage a competitor? Is it the way Plusnet have implemented them? Is there simply not enough capacity in the 0808 routers?
I am not a heavy user of my Connect account, rarely exceeding half of the guaranteed minimum connect time. Whatever, if this can not be improved it is simply not worth paying the monthly fee for a Connect account.
