captcha verification images not displaying when trying to PM

Hi, I just tried to PM jojo to ask her a question
but the captcha verification  image does not show, i tried reloading  the page it still does not show, so I cannot PM! also the listen option played back nothing either.

what captcha , I have never had one on PN PM's, done then to JoJo and Adam

Now that is very strange, I am not being prompted for a captcha code at all today when I try to PM people.
Anyone else know why I was getting prompted yesterday?

Just decided to take a look around the admin pages to see if I could see what was happening, found the following setting:
Quote
Post count under which users must enter code when sending personal messages.

That's currently set to 5 which probably explains what you were seeing yesterday.

Well done again Chris, you are on top form with the problem solving!
So can you set up a new user to test and see if the captcha codes are being displayed properly at the moment?

I don't believe you. I'm not the only person reporting this problem, including one of the moderators. Please send me a screen dump to prove it is working and then I might believe you.

It was the first time I'd visited the site in some of the browsers I tried (see below) so there was no browser cache or history to clear. However just to please you I tried and surprise, surprise, no difference.

It's a simple image - I'm not aware of any plug-in to display that. In any case if it does require a plug-in YOU should have a link on the site to download it. I'm not having problems on any other site with display of verification images.

I've tried Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, Opera and Google Chrome. I've also tried IE8 on my office PC (not on Plusnet).

I suppose in one way the website security feature is working; if the aim is to stop undesirable PMs being sent by new users it has succeeded - they can't send any.

Can't see why we don't just disable the CAPTCHA's entirely to be honest?

Quite - it's just a forums configuration setting.
People have to have a Plusnet account to register on the forums in the first place.
My concern is a first time user of the forums be asked to PM one of the Digital care team some information and finding they can't.
