Re: Why doesn't the Firefox spell checker work in titles

Got another one, Outlook Express, I am sure until recently it had a working spell checker, now it seems you have to have a working M$ o££ice set to get it working

Re: Why doesn't the Firefox spell checker work in titles

You can right click in the title and select 'check spelling' and then it underlines the incorrect words, but it always seems to default off  Huh

It does as well  Embarrassed - so does it need a change in the forum software to default to on

Re: Why doesn't the Firefox spell checker work in titles

Its because of the type of box that the title uses.
The reply box is a large text field which allows line breaks etc, so is more likely to be used in this type of situation.
The Subject box is a cut down version that doesn't allow line breaks etc.
By default FF only checks in multi line input fields. But, you can change it....
Should you wish to make it check form field too, you can change the default settings thus:

  • in the address bar type about:config and hit enter

  • type layout.spellcheckDefault in the filter field

  • double click on the entry and in the popup box enter 2

  • click ok

Now spell check should work in any text field.

Better?

Yes. Thanks for that James.
@Oldjim
Now you know the spell checker will work if you spell it wrong, why not type [Ressolvedd] in the post title? Crazy
Edit; corrected the not deliberate spelling mistake Embarrassed
