Re: Why did my last post disappear ?

As I still don't know what I did wrong,

and it is apparent that I'm not the first that this has happened to,

what can be done to prevent this sequence of events happening again ?

That's because that WAS a link to a duplicate post which has now been removed.  Wink

Re: Why did my last post disappear ?

@Anonymous As regards you post 'hitting the SPAM filter' - you did nothing wrong, it sometimes seems to have a mind of it's own. Out of curiosity, in the original that first disappeared, did it contain any links?

I had raised the matter on Staging previously and requested some information from the Mods about incorrectly trapped posts, but to be perfectly frank, I had naff all response from them. I had a more constructive input from Bob, and a comment from Harry which was more of an opinion than actually providing any answers. So I had (for the time being) not bothered to rant about it as there were more important things at the time.

The first post was almost identical, the second post was my attempt at retyping the first post from memory, so same content, same links, just a slight variation of words used, but basically the same. Once I had re-composed the second post, I copied it to a text editor (just in case I lost it again), and then that copy was reproduced on the third post (i.e. the new topic).

Re: Why did my last post disappear ?

I didn't see any links there, just some @ which is why I asked.

Re: Why did my last post disappear ?

So just so I understand this correctly, when the Spam filter mechanism decides a post is Spam, it just hides the post from normal users but does not inform the author that it has done so? And hides it from the author too?

If that is correct, I think that an enhancement is needed to the Spam mechanism to send a PM to the author saying it has been marked as spam and include the message text.

Otherwise things like this thread happen.

Re: Why did my last post disappear ?

Sending a PM would probably take days the way things work round here from time to time Roll_eyes

There should be an immediate "pop-up" type message. Now funnily enough I seem to recall someone posting something like that happening to them a while ago. I will have to try and find it, but with the useless Search engine we have here (SMF was brilliant in comparison) that will take a while Angry

Re: Why did my last post disappear ?

No please, not a pop up like the one that told me you had just posted to this thread. That stupid thing flickers too much , is hard to read on the Plusnet standard CSS and too easily missed (on a wide screen in the bottom right corner totally out of eye sight).

A PM would give a record and allow the user to compose another post or at least think about it in their own time.

Yes, that is exactly what happened !  Crazy2

This looks like it has happened at least twice before, on this new forum.

Re: Why did my last post disappear ?

I agree, a PM would be the best solution - if it can't be done whilst still in the editor before a POST is accepted.
