Upgrades tomorrow.

FYI - We're upgrading Wordpress and SMF tomorrow morning.
Hi Jelv Smiley
--
When's this work happening?
Tomorrow morning.
What does it affect?
This will affect the front page of our Community Site, the Community Forums and the Community Library.
How long will it take?
About 90 minutes.
What does the work involve?
We are upgrading our installation of Wordpress (front page & library) to version 2.8.4 and SMF (forums) to version 1.1.10.
Is it likely to cause problems?
You won't be able to access all areas of the Community Site for at least a portion of the maintenance window.
Is there anything else I need to know?
No.
Kind Regards,
James Bailey

Re: Upgrades tomorrow.

You might have replaced your first and second service status postings, but too late!
They have gone out by email, they're on the RSS feed, they've appeared on Usenet plusnet.service.status

Seriously, why don't you put a one line news item on SMF with a link to your post - that would appear at the top of the forums and should be seen by everyone?

Yeah thanks Jelv.
I'd also managed to mess up this post (twice).  It's not been a good day.

Re: Upgrades tomorrow.

It was quite funny really.  In the end I posted 3 service status messages about the same thing.
The first one was fine, although I forgot to post it to Free-Online.
The second one had a line in that I'd put in to try and catch out Chris in his peer reviewing task (we always peer review a service status or planned maintenance post before making one), and I'd copied it from my text files instead of the Task I had sent Chris.
The third one had the right messaging and went to the right brands.
Next time I'll make sure that I've had my normal coffee quota.  In at 5am tomorrow though, so it could happen all over again!

Re: Upgrades tomorrow.

You have to signup via the Usertools page, Peter.
Upgrade is now complete - please let me know if you can see any problems with any aspect of the Community Site.
I've tested all basic functionality, and didn't come across any problems.
