Re: This forum is grinding to a halt

I have had several strange ones, you dont seem to be able to cancel a hung one, but I have copied the wording, used the go back error and tried to do it again, to be told I had already posted it.
I have a feeling that it is webstats that is causing the bottle neck, does show on the bottom line, I will have to take more notice next time

Just tried loading a small image in a post 20KB and this is what Firebug reports 43.3 secs waiting
And 40.88 secs waiting when posting this

Re: This forum is grinding to a halt

This is most likely due to not having all the Community Site servers in the load balancer at the moment, one of the servers has been taken out for testing and bug fixing following the upgrade a few weeks ago.

Re: This forum is grinding to a halt

I've just uploaded a post with attachment via Firefox 10.0.2. It took a long time but eventually happened on the first attempt without having to reload anything.

Re: This forum is grinding to a halt

Just made a thread in this section with an attachment and it is still happening, had to reload this section to see it as it stuck on posting it which didn't open the thread as it would normally, Opera 11.61

Re: This forum is grinding to a halt

I find, when there is an apparent delay in uploading, usually with posts containing image(s) or lengthy text, during peak periods, that if I back history and reload,  ( even within a couple of seconds ) the post is present on the forum, it seems just that the transfer from upload created post to display post locks up for a while sometimes.
And nearly always, when I amend a post, the transfer back to forum is immediate, for some reason.
I find the same effects with different browsers, so I'm presuming it's something internal to PN.

Re: This forum is grinding to a halt

You're welcome, it's been ever so slightly bugging me for a while.
Like PP, and yourself, for long or complicated posts I copy and save into Apple textedit before posting, I also have a programme that records keystrokes, and images as a fallback.
This is true of any post I make to other forums, newspaper comment, online orders etc, where multiple one button (I have F1 & F2 setup for this) screen grabs are so useful until goods are delivered.
And, as you would expect, here's an image from me !

F2 [SPACE] selected area, imageshack Bookmark bar one button

The hardest bit, after a double post, is thinking of something to write in the second post, immediately.
And the "someone else has posted" message is rarely true I find.
Because I have been posted, it's just not reported back as a successful post yet, whilst apparently still in create mode, hence the message, when it's actually my post that has been posted, I hope that makes sense..
