It is partially back (again).

Clicking my AV goes to my profile, not the options

Ditto.

It is odd that for the most part, it seems to be the case that John and I suffer with these forums around the same time.

So both of us must be connecting through the same server.

(fwiw - my browser addon is stating that the forum IP is 13.35.198.11)

edit. Hmm, after posting this reply I had the usual popup survey, having clicked it away, the profile is now working as expected. Could it have been that?

Re: The forum bugs are biting again?

@DS Same final address for me, too.

Edit, dunno, @DS , I've not had one of those infuriating pop-ups for a while - and they get dismissed when I do.Wink

Re: The forum bugs are biting again?

That would make sense then, as we both witnessed the same issue.

However, not sure if you caught my edit? As since declining the popup survey normality has been restored for me.

(but I will keep an eye on this and let you know if it stops working)

Yes, caught your edit, but as I said, I've not had any recently. FWIW, I never log out of Community, anyway.

Re: The forum bugs are biting again?

I get the popup every day*, but I do log out, delete all of my history etc and I tend to run CCleaner too

(*or every time I clear cookies, cache etc, it pops up after a few mins).

As you don't log out, thus don't see the popup, I wonder if it's trying to show itself to you and thus that was why the profile page was locked out this am

(and note to self, I also need to check for edits too, as I missed one of yours!Embarrassed)

The servers are behind 'load balancers' so the IP address does not uniquely identify the server you are connected to.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Thanks for that MauriceC:)

So I guess that would explain why my browser shows one IP, but a tracreroute shows a completely different IP?

(always has done this - I did think it might of been PN's caching system at first, hence why I asked a few Q's about it)

I can only guess (lots of guessing with these forums as you might be able to tell) that if it was the survey, then it eventually times itself out, or the survey popup was a red herring?

(still odd if the survey isn't related, as why else would mine only start to work correctly after clicking no thanks...?)

head hit - Doh!!

I wonder if it is trying to force it's way onto your screen...?

Re: The forum bugs are biting again?

In answer to your final question, @DS , I don't think so, it hasn't been 6 months since my last 'invite', and I think that's the default for those of us who are permanently logged in.

Re: The forum bugs are biting again?

Unless it's like the communications preference on the member centre (that as we know, it doesn't go awayLips_are_sealed), then I'm not sure why yours is still behaving like it is today. Or is the survey supposed to show it's face monthly or 6 monthly for those whom don't log out?

Since seeing that mine was also misbehaving, I've logged out several times thus far today, cleared history etc, either waited for the survey popup, clicked no thanks and then logged in, or logged in and waited for the survey (hence my delayed responses), clicked no thanks and then clicked on my ID to find it now works as it should. I won't clear my browser stuff now to see if it comes back.

I wonder if you logged out, cleared the browser 'stuff', logged in and waited for the survey and then checked your notifications panel, would it then keep on working like mine? - Though that would be a real pain if you have several other pages open elsewhere.

(I still think it was odd that mine worked only after clicking the survey away)

Re paragraph #1 I haven't forgotten about that communications preference foul-up - still on my radar Wink With regards to the survey pop-up, I'm sure the 6 month gap was mentioned somewhere - but don't recall where.

Para. #2 &#3 As above, I only see the survey rarely, but I'm surprised you see it as often as you do. Although I'm permanently logged into Community on the laptop - with most PN cookies retained - I go fresh to the forums on the iPad - all browsing history, cookies &c are cleared when I close either Dolphin or Safari on there, but I certainly don't see the invite on every visit.

Re: The forum bugs are biting again?

@billnotben Going by the fairly regular occurrence of this fault, I'd be more inclined to put it down to a system/mantainance error.

You're probably right but why only on the plusnet forum?
