Smilies not working on this forum intermittently?`

I've noticed recently that the smilies on this forum aren't working properly and will randomly be replaced with a word instead - EG 'Smiley'.
Whats up with it?
[Moderator's note by Thomas (Be3G): thread moved to more suitable forum.]
I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

I've not seen that which suggests it's a problem at your end.

Careful - you'll get reported to the moderators for more than 3 smilies in a row! Wink

As this was an "unofficial" test. I hope the mods will approve my previous post!  Kiss
Hmm. just had an afterthought...... perhaps I had better do it with only 2 in a row.

I believe the symbols get replaced with BBCode by SMF - I think it's along the lines of ::happy:: or something like that, I know what you mean. It's probably either that, or the smiley symbols end up getting chopped down the middle by quote tags or something.

We'll let it pass for that one post, but on the proviso that this thread doesn't turn in to a smiley free-for-all. Smiley

I have had that problem occasionally but I put it down to FF as it scre messes up forum pages sometimes. Roll_eyes

Just a thought: the appearance of the word ‘Smiley’ suggests that what's being seen is the alt text for the standard Smiley emoticon, which implies that for whatever reason the actual image file isn't being downloaded by the browser.
