Re: Should PN upgrade to a new forum ??

Yes that would make more sense. It's just sent via PCL or PTN, chosen at random rather than by which gateway you're on. But quite a lot of traffic seems to go from one to the other anyway.

Yeah.  They click post, the response saying "yes, I got that" is dropped by their firewalls because it's coming back from the wrong server, so the browser sits there waiting.  The customer then clicks post again so you duplicate.

yeah I did a few, but now I learnt, after it stalls, to simply refresh the page instead and bam my post is there.

That hasn't worked when I tried doing that  Sad
For me the only thing that works is patience,
i.e. wait for two minutes doing nothing, and the post will eventually be accepted, then close the hung posting browser tab.

What Jim said is factually correct - I've seen it on a number of occasions.
You make a post with an attachment and then when it hangs open another browser tab and view and keep refreshing the forum index. It can be several minutes before you see your post appear as the latest post. Meanwhile the original tab is still hung and typically stays hung.

Jelv,
What I intended to convey is that one does not need to wait a number of minutes to see duplicate post issues.  All too frequently I see "page cannot be displayed" click back, click preview and then get warned that the thread has been updated and see my update below my 'current' reply.
A delay is not an essential component of non-response to postings or the path to duplicate postings.
Comments from PN support is visibly absent from this theme!

Cheers,
Kevin

OMG.........
Can any staff member(s) confirm why the forum is like it has had a dose of what they have done, as it is quite quick today (LONG may I.T Continue)

Re: Should PN upgrade to a new forum ??

It does seem a bit quicker today, but whatever changed hasn't fixed the spurious community server packets bouncing off my firewall - although in the short time I have been looking, there does seem to be fewer of them.
How is it that the IP addresses for this forum are 212.159.8.110 and 212.159.9.110,  yet (as can be seen in the attached screen shot) I get replies from (in this instance) 84.93.230.178 (which is - "community04.servers.plus.net") ?

Think they've put Red Bull in the mouse's drinking bowl.
It's certainly a lot snappier.
Sadly the main problem, posts with attachments remains Sad

Posting my Reply #81 with attachment took about 40 seconds.  Smiley
It also didn't hang and completed correctly,  so something has been fixed.  Smiley

@'Kelly' - Are you sure those meddling kids haven't been playing with your network, or feeding the servers with Scooby snacks ?

I tried the forums at 05:30 this morning before going to work and they were very slow.
