Locking/unlocking topics by normal user

I've noticed that I can lock/unlock topics started by myself.
Should that be allowed?

Re: Locking/unlocking topics by normal user

This is one fo the default settings in SMF if I remember rightly. But perhaps your right in asking as it may (or may not as the case may be) cause havok when these boards get used full time.
Colin, any thoughts?

Re: Locking/unlocking topics by normal user

Someone starts a topic and starts causing trouble.
Moderators lock the topic.
OP unlocks the topic and carries on.
Somehow I don't think that's what we want!

Or:
Someone starts a topic and posts some rubbish that needs a reply but locks the topic to stop anyone replying

Re: Locking/unlocking topics by normal user

Agreed,
But on the same token SMF does catalogue actions and each users individual rights can be edited so user A can lock and unlock their own threads and then users B and C cant for example.
But yes, to save on a lot of trouble in the long run its better off if it isnt allowed period.

Changed it earlier. I haven't done a full permissions audit yet 🙂
