Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything that can be done except suggest updating your OS/Browser to the latest version.

Why don''t you change the record ! that advice is a load of cobblers !

At this moment I'm running -

Ubuntu 17.10 (THE LATEST and fully updated)

    Firefox 56.0 64-bit (THE LATEST - without ANY add-ons)

Modem/router Billion BiPac 8900X R3 (Standard device with LATEST FIRMWARE)

ADSL (up to 7.15Mbps with no issues)

A year and a half after this forum became unusable, I still have terrible page loading times (11 to 19 seconds typically), and since the traffic prioritization was removed on the 1st July 2017, I now often see messages saying the forum page loading has timed out.  Often forum pages are partially populated, and for example looking at "Who's Online" doesn't load all the images and shows pink text instead. or the notifications pop-up has entire sections missing.

It is  ONLY  THIS  FORUM  that gives me any problems like this,  no other website has issues like this.

Therefore telling US to upgrade to the latest everything is clearly nonsense !

THERE  IS  NOTHING  ELSE  I  CAN  DO  TO  MAKE  THIS  FORUM  WORK  FOR  ME  !

There is the additional point that this is supposed to be a support forum, and customers will not ALL have the latest gizmo with latest browser,  therefore to expect customers to upgrade just for this one website so that they can receive support from Plusnet is clearly a ludicrous expectation !

Why can't the target range of supported browser functionality be lowered to something perhaps three years old, so that we the customers don't struggle (on older browsers or very slow high latency ADSL connections) with the unnecessarily over complicated rendering and other fancy features that make this forum such a nightmare to use.

@jaread83  YOU need to simplify this forum functionality, and make more of the page loading items non HTTPS to speed up page loading on slow high latency ADSL connections.

Re: Current mobile version of forums unusable

I didn't make the software @Anonymous. No point in attacking me for it.

From Lithiums TKB about supported browsers:

Question

What are the preferred browsers for using Lithium communities?

Answer

Preferred Browsers

For a consistent and reliable experience with Lithium-powered communities, we recommend using the latest releases of the following browsers (with JavaScript enabled, and not inclusive of any backward-compatibility modes):

  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Internet Explorer 11
  • Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Mobile browser support when using Responsive

If you are using Lithium Responsive, you must use a current version of one of these mobile browsers:

  • Safari on iOS
  • Chrome on Android

Mobile v1 browser support

If you are using Mobile v1, we recommend a current version of one of the following (with JavaScript enabled):

  • Safari on iOS
  • Android browser on Android
  • Opera Mini
  • BlackBerry Browser

Keeping Tabs on the ever-changing Browser, OS, and Device Market

The Lithium product team monitors market trends and new technologies all the time. While it's sometimes hard to predict when a vendor will release a new OS or browser, we're watching them and participating in early access and beta programs. Our goal is to deliver the best experience on the latest popular releases when they become generally available, but we might need to catch them on our next subsequent Lithium release.

My Browser Didn't Make The List?

We want everyone to enjoy the vibrant Lithium community experience, so our developers strive to accommodate a range of browsers even if that sometimes means delivering a slightly degraded experience when you're using a browser not on this list. The best solution will be to get on the latest release because some older browsers are likely to have issues with newer features in the latest Lithium releases.

About TLS Support

Early in 2017, we will be shifting away from the dated Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 protocol to meet industry standards. TLS 1.0 is not as secure as other available options and is no longer supported by the major browser providers. If your community uses TLS 1.0, review your client-side setup to ensure you’re using the latest version of TLS to avoid any potential complications from the protocol being sunset with this release. With the end of support for TLS 1.0, we no longer support the Internet Explorer 10 browser. If you have any questions, contact Lithium Support.

Re: Current mobile version of forums unusable

Hmm... Android Dolphin problem occurs when using the "jetpack" function. Switch it off and am able to tap the correct links. Why it behaves like this I've no idea at present and why it's similar to my ipod may just be coincidental.

This leaves me no closer to resolving said issues with ipod. A real head scracher.
That's RPM to you!!
