I'll raise a ticket with Khoros this morning so they can take a look.

@James_B

Has there been an update please?

I've yet to see similar (or the same) using Firefox on Windoze.

That is because it is a Chrome issue, @Anonymous

Apparently only currently enabled by default on Firefox Nightly builds

So it was a browser problem?

Re: Community forum attempting to 'snoop' around device on the LAN

No.

Web pages have had the capability to access your PC's configuration files and local LAN devices for a while,

it is only showing up now because the latest web browsers are now warning users of snooping attempts, and are providing a mechanism for blocking future intrusions.

This is yet another reason that you shouldn't browse the internet on a Windows PC using an account with 'Admin' privileges, as random web pages have the potential to remotely alter your machine's configuration settings.

It won't do - it is only an experimental feature, being given to those using the 'nightly' builds.

Hi @Townman,

Khoros have confirmed this isn't related to any changes to the platform but I've asked if they can provide more detail around why the site may be triggering the warning.

@James_B

Thank you - excellent - saved me asking the rejoinder.  There might be no change but what has been snooping (since whenever) which has now been de-cloaked? Wink

Hi,

Quick update on this one...

Our investigations indicate the alert is triggered when a post references the default IP address for the Plusnet Hub Manager admin console (such as an embedded link or image reference).

Re: Community forum attempting to 'snoop' around device on the LAN

As in the router admin page can be found here - Home

EDIT: That did not trigger a warning.

See if this does http://192.168.1.254/home.htm

EDIT: Nope!

@Townman - one of the examples they shared was when a post tries to pull an image from the UI.
