Hmm... if you login to SMF it should auto log you in to wordpress anyway, and it did on my test there...

Re: Can't login to blogs to post a comment

I'm logged in to SMF (obviously as I'm making this post! :P)
When I go to http://community.plus.net/ in the Welcome box I have
Quote
News and Updates on the Community.
You are not logged in. Log in now

If I click Log In now it takes me to http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php?action=login
If I log in again it then takes me to http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php
Go back to the community home page and it still says I am not logged in.

Logout in SMF and then try again.  I reckon it's Wordpress timing out your login and it getting all confused!

Re: Can't login to blogs to post a comment

No luck. I've even tried logout, delete all community.plus.net cookies, close the browser, open it and try logging in.
Why does the login page sometimes have two sets of fields for username and password?

Re: Can't login to blogs to post a comment

Hmmm strange...
While I am in the forums the first button on the top row of the banner is Logout.
If I go to About, Blogs, Bugs or Polls the first button changes to Login and I get a Register button.

Re: Can't login to blogs to post a comment

You changed your password for me. If it's not the same as your original one, you've broken it and this thread is a dupe of http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php?topic=4.0

Re: Can't login to blogs to post a comment

Ah that explains it.
Is there any way I can log in to WordPress by using a different URL?

Nope, you can only log in through SMF... are you happy that this is resolved now then?

Re: Can't login to blogs to post a comment

Yes - I changed by password again which straightened everything out.
