Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

Since I changed from the en-US version of firefox V46.0.1 to the en-GB version I've had far fewer of these errors.

Anyone else tried this?

Downloads available here:

https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/46.0.1/

Note:

You can find the country version of firefox from Control Panel > Programs and Features. The listing there will show Mozilla Firefox 46.0.1 (x64 en-GB) or (x64 en-US) etc.

Just noted my version of Thunderbird is also en-US. Roll_eyes

I had an Authentication error twice yesterday, both with posts I'd taken a long time to compile. Whilst I am wise to the possibility of this event and take precautions it doesn't make it any more acceptable!

I also still get the error annoyingly frequently - just stopped reporting them!  What will lithium do once the 'Fix' to the FF component of the problem is sorted?

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I agree @Anotherone, this issue isn't happening on the staging environment so I do not know why it would happen here. I found a way around it by if I get kicked out to the connection error page I hit refresh and it asks if I'd like to resubmit the form. A couple of refreshes and it eventually posts. It's happened to me a few times after writing a long post Sad

@LouisaMartin, have we had any updates on this issue yet?

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I am using FF 46.0.1 on Mac to post this and I do not get this issue when submitting posts, so is it specific to Windows / Linux?

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I am running the same as you @Anonymous (Mac OSX 10.11.4 with FF 46.0.1) and it happens randomly so I don't think its confined to Windows only.

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

@jaread83 - Fair enough, I know this may sound stoopid, but people have mentioned that there is a speed issue with downloading resources, so could it have any relation to that? As you're not seeing it on staging due to the speed of the network all of the resources are available instantly to you. Just a thought?

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I have no idea how the server is configured at the Lithiums side so I can't really comment. I haven't had any speed issues on either the live environment or staging. Only when an update from myself or Lithium is applied does the site slow down (and as I expected, a thread started about speed when I did the updates last Friday). Lithium roll out updates after midnight if there are any and I did my updates around 9:30am last Friday.

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

Staging works.

Live doesn't.

Any chance it's interaction with Google Analytics that's part of the issue?

Should be easy to test just by enabling analytics in staging.

@SpendLessTime - Funny you should mention that, as I have the Opt-Out Browser Add on enabled for google analytics. So if someone who has frequent issues with this error may want to test this theory.

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

I'm not sure why Staging has been ruled out, I haven't been using in the same way lately at all, but will try and do so tonight. I have other commitments for the rest of the day.

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

Well I have had it on Staging @jaread83 it needed a greater elapsed time than here (so it seemed).

Now, here is a new one on me, clicked on 'View More" on my Notification feed and got this -

I'm using PaleMoon.

And here is another "Secure Connection Failed"

Re: Authentication error on community - are you affected?

As I mentioned elsewhere I dropped back to Waterfox v44 from v46 and haven't had any problems since.

Waiting now for the anticipated June update.
