Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Yes I was terminating - it's only 14 days notice in your case - from here:
Once we have provided the service, you may tell us to stop providing it at any time by giving us 30 days' notice. We will accept notice via a range of methods including phone, e-mail, online chat and in writing. You can contact us to give notice using any of the contact details set out on your last BT bill or any other means of contact we have given you, for that purpose. If you are switching to another provider through an approved process, the notice you must give us will be 14 days. We can stop providing the service to you by giving you 28 days' written notice.

Well done chaoticmess and I hope it all goes well for you.  I was joking before,  you seemed to take it in good spirit. Smiley

Just for the record, except for Cable (Virgin Media), all ISPs/CPs have to deal with BT OpenReach for the maintenance and installation of the line between the Exchange, Cab and the End User's premises.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Sorry to ask what has undoubtedly already been asked, but having read all the previous 20 pages I'm a bit snowblind.
Currently I'm on Legacy Plusnet Premium and pay an extra fiver for the pro addon. So this is £24.99 a month.
I also pay for a domain name and have a fixed ip address. I receive a few discounts for referrals
If I understand correctly I can now switch to Plusnet unlimited for £16.99 and nothing should change except I don't have a 120Gb download limit.
I understand there is probably no point in buying the pro addon but I'm not really sure why.
Is this all correct please?
If so I'm ready to do the deed.
Thanks

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

You are correct and the reason is that unlike your present product there are no rate limits in the evening
However note that to get the lower price you will need to sign up for 12 months otherwise it will be £19.49 in a Market 1 area

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Thanks Jim,
I tried to order and selected the router option (£5.99 p+p) but when it came to entering the card details and hit 'go' I got this error:
  Sorry, an error occured.
  Invalid Idempotence Id
The error has been recorded and our website team will investigate.
  Please try again later.

So how do I now know if my upgrade has been scheduled?
Thanks

Never mind - I couldn't see any ticket raised so I tried again and it said it worked.
I'll look out for my free modem and wait for the change to happen.
My son will be pleased that he can now play unlimited!
Thanks

BT do charge as we've found to our cost! The 12 month contract ended at the beginning of December on our second home, but they didn't notify us as their website says they will! ...
...- but we were then stung for a thirty day cancellation charge so have had to effectively pay a penalty of two months rental (£30)  to terminate the service. In fact they deducted £45 from our account so I presume we'll get a refund of £15 presently - or action will be taken!

Similar thing happened to me when I changed from BT to PlusNet Phone Line. I had been with BT since forever but took one of those offers that you need to agree to a 12 months contract.
I never received the promised notification before or on the anniversary so it renewed automatically. About four months had passed when I wanted to change to PN and BT not only wanted the penalties but the remaining charges for the contract (about 8 months!!)
Fought it, rang several times and got speaking and explaining to several people until finally someone assumed responsibility and refunded the extra charges with apologies.
The key is not receiving the promised notification.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

Once any initial 12/18month etc contract has come to an end, they can no longer be automatically renewed (OFCOM rules), unless you specifically sign up again to some deal.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

In my case, I had signed up for a deal, but it specifically said not to worry, that they would notify before renewal to give you the option to cancel it.
Anyway, this was in 2010.

Re: Unlimited/Essentials product launch December 2012

GR4CE what Anotherone said is true.  In 2011 Offcom outlawed the practice of auto-renew contracts if you didn't cancel in time.  They are simply not allowed to do it and should have renegotiated any such contracts in existence.

Actually it looks like perhaps my first ticket did go through since I've been billed two lots of postage for modem delivery.
Can someone please check and reverse it for me?
Thanks

If you go to http://trials.plus.net there is an option for Business customers to opt in to an FTTC trial.
