Re: TBB Ping Graphs

I wouldn't reboot!
5.5 just means background noise has risen since the last resync. If you resync now it will be at 6 with a slightly lower sync speed. Far better to just let it ride and see if the line stays stable (and for the exchange to see the line is stable).

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

yet to get a reply to my ticket but seems to be back to normal again, what I want to know is what did my graph indicate as a problem.
PN and BT IP profiles matched
Ping tests showed not loss but a higher than normal ping for my connection on fastpath e.g. 50-55ms vs 25-30ms.
No noise on my phone line in either master socket or test socket
With out the phone connected no change in ether master or test socket to the speed/ping issues
Unannounced BT work?  As my exchange is on the radar for FTTC early next year.
edit: deja vu
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.27 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 4.59 Mbps

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Here's my graph, Plusnet Premium 21CN.
My connection's mainly used for general surfing, iPlayer, YouTube, etc, mostly evenings and weekends.
EDIT: I upgraded to unlimited and got a new static IP, so this graph broke.

mines 60mb oldh9. even switching upstream channel no helps no more as they hav started up bonding so both upstreams get overloaded.
nice to see isp staff solving latency issues. un lile virgin who belive bandwidth is the only thing. needed for a internet connection and on that front utube ect bandwidth no stream 240p an yet next to nothing in replys from staff in there growing forum thread.
keep up. more like try an keep up with pn customer service standards. still dont thing 250gb would be enough for my growing 5 kids other wise it would be a no brainer to move bac

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Another one to add, please "Fibre Extra" :-
<a title="Broadband Ping" href="http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/80aec8fd40411c0a81e4e1c3fa23604e.html"><img alt="My Broadband Ping - tripod-PN-Fibre-Extra" src="http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share-large/80aec8fd40411c0a81e4e1c3fa23604e.png" /></a>

Usage: working from home, plus enthusiastic internet user, admin for some web sites, and pulling down a daily MySQL database of 1.5TB (uncompressed, about 700MB compressed as downloaded).

The evening latency has been increasing of late, especially compared to a month ago.
Also, PlusNet's original Fibre-Extra email suggested to expect vDSL speeds of 56Mbps, to date and in practice, I've never seen above 20Mbps (usually in the range 11-18Mbps typically) - which is still better and more stable than ADSL so I'm not grumbling  Cool

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Some thing happened about 1.10am, near enough every graph has a large loss spike.  Note, no lost connection here according to my routers logs.

That much difference is worth us having a look at.

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Saw the Plusnet customer / staff graphs page a couple of weeks ago and wondered what started it all.
Here's my link;
<a title="Broadband Ping" href="http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/42e6920411ce555e3260c9a7731232bb.html"><img alt="My Broadband Ping - Plusnet" src="http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share-large/42e6920411ce555e3260c9a7731232bb.png" /></a>

Connection is Extra Fibre @ 950m from PCP. Usage is mainly browsing, email and social. Increasing amount of streaming (iPlayer, Sky On Demand, Netflix and a bit of You Tube). Occasional VPN, P2P and VoIP (Sure Signal).

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Last night I was online in a game[lotro] and had a lot of lag which didn't show up on a ping trace or wire shark, but checked my graph this morning and the high band of average latency was when it happened last night.
No loss of connection
In game and external pings were normal during for the time of night
Wireshark capture showed nothing wrong
But the graph attached shows something is wrong

Does Lotro do patching while playing like WOW does?

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Gus,
Can you be more specific in your timing of events if possible. I'm looking at one thing which is specific to you, rather than a generic issue so need some more info to rule it in or out.
What time did you start playing?
What time did you stop playing?
Roughly when did the problem start?
i.e was it bad from the beginning, or a period into playing.
Equally, when did the problems stop?
There is a large amount of transfer during the half hour or so that shows an the blue on the ping graph. It seems quite a bit more than I would expect for an online game and would exhibit possible symptoms that are described.

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

it lasted in game for about 20mins so the start of that graph roughly, I gave up after 20mins and watched some IPlayer which was not affected
