Re: Peak time latency spikes

I'm also on ptw-ag04, have never tried disconnecting to hop to another gateway.
Web/youtube streaming/ftp are all affected at the moment, usenet is fine. Last night everything recovered at 11:15-11-20ish
Current results:

Re: Peak time latency spikes

21CN (FTTC) and gateway: pcl-ag07. No problems here with throughput or latency.

I don't think Kelly meant the 20CN platform was "congested"?Huh

Sorry, I meant certain parts of the platform - affecting some users only. Same with the BTW 21CN WBC platform. I meant it as a question... whether that is the current theory?
But I see that there are quite high latency spikes on the 21CN graphs for bronze/best effort now - not as high as last night, I think. Does that imply a problem within Plusnet's network?
Can anyone tell us what those graphs actually represent? Are they based on test traffic through each gateway (rather than actual measurements of customer traffic)? And where are the test end points, ie they are measuring latency between where and where?  Just interested to know what they are really telling us.

No problems here at any time this evening, both ping times and speedtest results normal.  Cool

Just changed to gateway pcl-ag05  speed almost back to normal.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

SamKnows latency from yesterday (Mon 25th).
Today's is looking pretty similar.
Gateway pcl-ag05 both days.

You've got 23ms ping in your sig compared to 41in the test result unless your are trying to say 41 is normal with interleaving on and 23 was what you got with it off.
Same Gateway here, but slightly elevated pings earlier, just a few spikes (probably me) since about 2200.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

TBB ping monitor with signs of increase in average latency during peak time. (26-02-2013) pcl-ag03

But comparing that to the IPv6 ping graph there's no sign during peak time.

Ignore the 4 - 6 pm as iPlayer downloads were running.

As both connections go through the same route up to the outer end of the PlusNet network, it appears to be something outside of PN's control where the issue lies.  Sad
Edit: Added dates and gateway, just in case.  Wink
That's RPM to you!!

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Here's yesterday's (26th) latency.
BTW: I was expected to see more recent tests on the speedtest.net Plusnet Community speedwave.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Hi,
If you're experiencing the issues discussed in this thread, would it be possible for you to run through our faults wizard at http://faults.plus.net so we can investigate this further with our suppliers.
If you could let me know when you've done this I'll get this followed up and update you ASAP.
Thanks,
Chris

Who are you using for the IPv6 tunnel?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Hi Chris,
I've got a fault open already (I think - someone in support started it and I've not had to run any tests) - all I've been asked to do is connect directly to the modem to rule out the router being the problem (which I've not done yet)
Should I run through the faults wizard anyway?
Kelly - did you get the message with the link to the wireshark captures last ngiht?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Yep, got the wiresharks.  I need Dave to have a look at them next week (He's off on hols this week) but they look fine from my untrained eye.
