Quote from: darklight 1 reboot of the modem and your speed drops.
A bit of a drastic statement, I've rebooted my modem without loss of speed or the IP changing, just don't do it very quickly or in repeated reboots in quick succession. The only time my IP dropped was once over night which was probably related to restarts due to maintenance by BT / PN or both. I've rebooted modem a number of times with no problems but never done a quick restart always left at least 15- 20 minutes before restarting and never reboots in quick succession.
Ever thought that for new people that if the modem on it's first reboot which could be a few days or even along time then that's the first time it's had time for the DSLM to adjust to the lines best level. Some posts here have noticed drops and have not been connected to PN for a month, that's the time I'd expect the line to settle in and the DSLM to adjust and stabilise. Everyone gets fast speeds at the first connection to Fibre but the DSLM can kick-in and they never get the speed back as the line is not stable at the initial fast speed and they start shouting I can get faster speeds and want it back. But sometimes the DSLM can lower and return due to a blip in the lines stability for a short time and return to a higher level after a period of time if left alone and you don't keep rebooting the modem to try and get the speed back.
An example my speed estimate was 55Mb, on connection and for the first week was around 61Mb but then dropped to 54,5Mb where it's stopped for 3 months, so I got what I expected when signing up for fibre. Then for some reason three weeks ago my IP dropped to 50.5Mb but leaving all alone returned 4 days later to 54.5Mb where it's been ever since.
After all what's the use of a 75Mb unstable line against a stable 65Mb line would you really notice the difference unless you did multi speed tests often. Speeds not everything line stability is.
the above is putting aside any speed problems due the the PN problem of the last few weeks between 8-10pm

Quote from: Kelly We believe we've solved the problem which was causing the 70Mbps fibre lines turning into 3Mbps lines at peak.
Looks as though it might be broken again

To get the test 3 to work, you need to run the normal BT test and go through the further diagnostics page, it will say there are problems with you line and press continue to run further tests. It then gives you the TAP3 login details, you login, press continue then the test works.

If I could hop and fix it, it wouldn't be so bad, but hopping is a waste of time
