Re: Peak time latency spikes

@ Bob Pullen - Thanks to Anotherone, it is as he described, I lost sync between 6:30 and 7 last night, and after a couple of hours had to gateway hope due to the slow speeds and high pings.
Tonight:
As Jose says, the world will stop tonight, so perhaps there will be less traffic until the game is finished!
Gateway: pcl-ag06

Generally browsing seems to be acceptable so far, although the issue with the forums not always loading properly is back this evening - was ok earlier today.  Jitter is a little up on normal (usually 0-1ms) but otherwise seems ok so far - I'll try again at half time!

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I've been having these issues too. Had it tonight. Powered down my modem, waited 5 mins... and now, touch wood it seems fine. Gateway pcl-ag02, which was giving me trouble before, is now going well. Could be purely coincidence of course, but I never normally have to repower my modem - its usually up for many many months at a time. Worth a go though if you've not tried it yet.

... I meant more to ask - how often is this *sort* of issue happening. IE, how many times over the last three years has there been something similar going on?

Ah, I see. I can't answer that as I've only been with PN since late last year. Hopefully someone else will advise you.

From recollection, I'd guess it was about once or twice a year when I was with plusnet, although being an old git, that could be a completely fabricated memory.

Grin Yes, I know the one ... and I'm not even an 'old git' yet. :S

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Can't say I have had any real issues tonight, although it must be said that I was watching the match and using my tablet so not exactly normal net use.
pcl-ag06

TBB graph still showing alot of nasty spikes during peak time - whilst this didn't impact general browsing, I'm sure it would render gaming unusable.  I'm gaming tomorrow eve, so we'll see what happens then Huh

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Bob
Thank you and all others for last nights tests to try and get to the bottom of this problem over on the other thread where everyone worked well as a team.
I know you did not see anything that could be causing the problems at the first view of the data as it was collated late night but hopefully you and others may find something when it's looked at in greater depth.
Staying on gateway that cured my problems last night to see what happens this evening.
gateway pcl-ag05.
This is located in City Lifeline House
Don't know why but my IP dropped from 54,4 where it's been since I joined in November 2012 to 50.5 during the day yesterday hopefully it will comeback up in the next few days.
Had a good laugh last night got an email from PN asking if I'd join them with speed tests for an award. With what's happening on my connection atm they won't stand a hope of winning so I'm declining that offer just now. Concentrate on getting network running normally before awards would be a better option atm for customers than awards.

Well here is the first fabricated memory - I've only been away for two years, not three as previously thought.

I maybe wrong, but I don't recall anything like as bad as this or even as long as this in recent times

Oops. lol
--------------
Didn't have a good night last night. Managed to get four, ten-minute, lag-laden games all evening. Started with those four games on pcl ag04. Fed up with the lag, I quit for a while. Then later I hopped first to ptn ag02, then to ptn ag03, and finally, having not had any more sessions load or the game not being able to connect at all, I gave up after my last hop to ptw-ago4. By this point it was late on and so I just browsed a little and then came to watching YouTube, which by this time was running fine.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

The high ping seems to be also during the daytime.  Sad
Great download speed, Bad ping.
Gateway: pcl-gw02
Noticed that the MSs starting to slower response (from 20 ms down to 32ms) on the gateway pcl-gw02  and 41 ms and then the transfer to pcl-cr02

Hoping it get fixed soon.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Hi all,
I'm going to be monitoring this thread tonight so please post if you are experiencing any of the aforementioned. We'll need the standard information, if you could post the information requested from yesterdays thread in here.
When/If we see a need to get data from your line it would be good if you could use IRC and let us know in real-time so we can capture this as it is happening and not to miss any vital data.
I may request in some instances that you raise a fault as we are collating and investigating this to our suppliers.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

So far so good - things seem to be fairly normal, even the TBB graph spikes are not too high so far, although around 8pm is when that seems to hot up!
I am going on XBL later, so we'll see at that point how it behaves in the real world.
