Re: Peak time latency spikes

Web is virtually unusable this evening, the forum is loading in text only (tried IE and Firefox) and the download speeds are very poor, staying very low until the last second and then shooting up to the figure in the test below.  Pings are also very poor anmd the TBB graph is not looking so good either.

This issue has been going on for far too long.  I have only been noticing it the last couple of weeks, and I have practically had enough between this and my other issue that is still ongoing (nearly 1 month).  It is very likely I'll be requesting a MAC tomorrow as this doesn't show any sign of being sorted in an acceptable timeframe.

So it is better after a gateway jump - but why should we have to keep doing this - I am starting to get mightily annoyed by this, it just shouldn't be necessary as the fault should have been identified by now and a fix developed!  This to me looks like excessive congestion, plain and simple, or worse traffic shaping gone wrong, either way having to ping-pong around gateways just to get the service to work properly - I've even had to post this using 3G as the forums are too unreliable using my plusnet connection, so I've just wasted an hour of my evening making two posts on the forum - not impressed at all!

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I'm on the same gateway you were on for your first test and am experiencing no issues Sad
Unfortunately I'm on my old laptop where the wireless isn't great so a speed test wouldn't show much (although even saying that I'm getting 45Mb/s). So 2 different users, same gateway, different experience doesn't seem like congestion unless it's localised somewhere. I'm on the Unlimited traffic management profile so will be getting the same experience to most people around here.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

So when you hopped gateway everything went back to normal? I've not seen as many complaints as recently tonight but obviously something is amiss still.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

More or less, although some web pages are still very slow to load, plus I am having toruble logging into plusnet or the community forums unless on 3G.  I have tried different web browsers, clearing settings, using private etc, but nothing works, guess I'll have to use my mobile for those sites!  I take it I have to ring to request a MAC as I can't find it online?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

For the first night in ages I'm not seeing any slowdown or high pings, it's solid. I'm on pcl-ag01. Normally by this time it's really struggling.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Having problems logging in to sites sounds odd, does that problem just happen in the evenings? It sounds like something different is happening to you as even at low speeds you should be able to log in to sites.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Yes, during the day it is usually ok, and around peak times the fun starts.  I have managed to post this from my PC but it is very hit and miss.  I'm going to try and cleam my drives of old files and ruubbish overnight to see if that helps, but I'd be surprised if it did.

Chris, he's also got an SNRM issue, I've been posting on his thread for him.

Some people, like myself, may be fed up with repeatedly posting about the same thing every, single night. Just because they're not posting, doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing, then. I have been gateway hopping since I opened my thread in the gaming section on my AC:BMP problems in mid-January. I have been doing that every, single night that I have been playing - sometimes more, sometimes less.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I understand that Razer, but the more info we get the sooner we can resolve this. Please don't think that just because we've had 1 night of slightly less complaints that we think it's fixed, we know that there's an issue.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Edited my post and added the other stuff you asked for. Weirdly my monitor looks less healthy than it has been previous nights but my speeds are fine.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Right all, I'm off to eat and relax for a bit. I'll check all the threads first thing tomorrow to make sure I'm up to date on the latest and will make sure we've got someone in here tomorrow night too to keep an eye on things whilst the network dudes try and fix the problem.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Speed was fine up until 2130, now poor again for me. (ptw-ag03)
Speed down around 15Mbps

Pingtest okay (seems to take ages finding the servers which is odd)

However Usenet for me awful again (2nd day now) varying between 1Mbps to 30Mbps (during the day always get 57Mbps constant)
