Is that something to do with my local exchange or BT's network in general .

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I don't think it's an issue at your Local Exchange.
Your exchange is Green which shows that there shouldn't be any capacity issues.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Would it be worth trying a full ip profile reset im prepared to try just about anything if it gets my connection back up to full speed .

Re: Peak time latency spikes

If you mean a line reset, as it stands, that's something we would have to get an engineer out to complete. From what I can see, your sync speeds are still the same as they should be and I can't see any reason as to why your IP Profile would have changed.
Hopefully your speeds should come back shortly.

At least it would be proof (definitive?) where the problem lies?

@AndyH
Slightly delayed reply (my brain was on one of the slow gateways)...
Yes, if the same low throughput and high ping shows up in a TAP3 then it would suggest the problem is outside PN's network. If it doesn't show up then it doesn't prove anything either way.
EDIT: AndyH did your performance hold up all evening on ptw-ag04? At the same time you were reporting a switch to that gateway solved your problem, I was having severe problems on the same gateway.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@ Bright
Yep, it was absolutely fine since changing gateways. I am actually back on ptw-ag02 again as I tried the TAP3 test again.
It kind of proves it's not my exchange (which is also a major node) which was upgraded early Feb because of slow speeds/high pings/packet loss at multiple times in the day. Also the other FTTP ISP users aren't reporting issues now on our community forum.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@AndyH
Agree it doesn't look like an exchange problem: I have not had the problem at all over the past month until yesterday (I'm on FTTC). After a gateway change yesterday I started seeing major problems on ptw-ag04, which was working fine for you.  Changed gateways and everything back to normal.
It seems to me to be a problem with something that depends on how the VLAN connection is routed, but I'm not convinced it's specifically related to gateways. I get the impression PN is still not clear whether it's in their network or BTW's backhaul
Just had a quick look through the reports on this thread from last night.
The following gateways were reported as problematic:
pcl-ag02 (3 different users)
pcl-ag03
ptn-ag06
The following gateways were reported as OK:
pcl-ag07
pcl-ag08
ptn-ag02
More interesting, the following gateways were reported as problematic for some but OK for others at exactly the same time:
ptw-ag02
ptw-ag04
Had a quick look at the latency graphs from last night and can't see any correlation (but with all those near identical colours on the graphs, it's almost impossible to see anything useful!).
So nothing conclusive. Need a better understanding of PN's network topology to see if there's anything useful in that sort of gateway data, but I doubt they would be willing to share that info with customers!
