Re: Peak time latency spikes

@ wizzkid66 which exchange are you on? How long have you noticed the speed slow downs for? Is your normal broadband use ok (like web browsing/streaming/gaming etc.)?

I am still having issues with slow speeds during peak times.  I was originally connected to gateway:  pcl-ag07 I tested speeds with that gateway this evening and was getting around 55mbs see attached pic. I then swapped gateways and am now connected to pcl-ag05  but the speeds to not seem to have improved but decreased even more. Could someone from Plusnet advise what else I can do to get my 70mbps speeds back during peak hours? Can you look at my line from your end to see if there are any issues there?

No obvious problems on the line. Tests all come back good. How long you been seeing the problem for? We're waiting to get an updated exchange list, hopefully we can check on Monday to see if there are any issues at your exchange.

20CN on 'pcl-ag01'
Lost it now,  test after test has collapsed in speed !

Exchange looks OK (we have a 20CN list, waiting on the 21CN one), line looks fine, network looks fine and PCL-AG01 looks fine. Try a disconnect/reconnect.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Dave, can I ask what my exchange is like? I don't normally stream in the evening, things earlier this evening were much better that tests several days ago, so I'm not sure whether it was the Beeb, the exchange or me.
Line is fine, speedtest and pings are fine, errors are low,  just the exchange I don't know about.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

was not around long last night long week so chilled out.
Checked my Whitebox this morning and first time since 23rd Feb that the log shows no dip in speed all day for 15th March.
I'm on gateway plc-ag01 for all the tests stopping on one gateway to see how constant problem is as other hoping around test multi gateways each evening just thought it may help if one of use stayed put as a control measurement as it was th plc gateways that where fixed first on 14th March..
Test on 12/13th show typical speed drops I've been getting for last three weeks.Seems last two days things getting better, see what happens over weekend?.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Which exchange are you on (sorry if I've already asked)?
I'm also on pcl-ag01 and getting fine speeds. Just done a speed test while streaming online radio:

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I've been getting similar download speeds as 'Bjn' all morning on 'pcl-ag06'.
Unfortunately it has not been possible to post any representative speed test results, because of the reasons I explained last night, where the final test result shown gives the momentary best effort achieved in a short burst within the overall test period - which for the most part shows around 2.5Mbps.
To quote 'Bjn' -  "Speed in this gateway going up and down like a yoyo"  but I'm yoyoing on 'pcl-ag06.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@ englishrick
Can you create a ping monitor (http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/monitors.html) to check latency/packet loss on your line?
You'll need to enable 'Respond Ping Request from WAN' in your router admin page (for Asus, it's under Firewall).
